Wk 2 Discussion Board: Online Ed vs. Face-to-Face Ed

Before anyone could list pros and cons between Online Education vs Face-to-Face Education, one needs to identify what Online Education really is. At Full Sail University, a student is truly experiencing the Online Education experience.

Online Education is when you are participating in every activity that you would normally do in class, but you are communicating in real-time via a computer and an online content management service.  There is no sending email and waiting for a response. There is no listening to a recording of a professor instructing you how to proceed through the current lesson.

If you keep this in mind, Online Education will slowly take over face-to-face because of how technology is evolving. You are at home versus going to class. You have all of your resources readily available instead of bringing it the next day.  There is no need to take notes during a presentation. A student can always revisit the session later for better understanding.

Face-to-face still has its advantages such as lab assignments that need to be performed. Interactive role playing can't be done online. Eventually technology will be available at a reasonable price for more and more students where tasks such as these can be performed in the privacy of your own home.
