Wk1 Activity: Comments for Carlos Benitez

The first paragraph is from Carlos  Benitez.

“A prerequisite to writing a good paper is an in-depth understanding of the subject. This understanding must be beyond words and deep into concepts”. From this important precision other important steps born, like summarizing, evaluating, analyzing, and synthesizing. Trough them the writer can get the adequate transition from the personal response to the analytical writing.

The concept in having an in-depth understanding of the subject is so correct. When one has a true grasp on what they have read, then higher thought and learning begins. Engaging in productive and meaningful conversations that will allow one to think and even possibly debate provides growth.

The additional thought is that should the reader appreciate how the writer is trying to share his or her own ideas. What if the reader has already made up his/her mind about a topic. Writing an academic paper is a challenge in it self. It should go through a series of reviews by peers and others considered as referees/instructors commenting on ideas being shared. Even though a student is following documented concepts in writing an academic paper such as describing an objective and the reasons supporting it, it doesn't mean that the writer has accomplished in meeting all of its requirements.
